'No one has ever become poor by giving'
|In times of financial turmoil, the human instinct turns toward self-preservation; people naturally want to take care of themselves and their families first, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But in times like these, it is also easy to push aside the fact that there are others in dire need of help. Nonprofits are being crippled by the current state of the economy and need our help and assistance.
Anne Frank once wrote, “No one has ever become poor by giving.” That's why I have dedicated myself to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. This organization is one that really impresses and inspires me because it is a perfect example of how you can help without feeling like you have to give thousands of dollars. I find Big Brothers Big Sisters to be such an inspiration, especially in times of financial distress. Through Big Brothers Big Sisters, children’s lives are being changed for the better, enabling our future generations to be educated, confident and well-rounded. This is essential to providing for our own well-being, as well as that of our planet, and yes, our economy.
