Quantum, Fisker deal, continued ...
Fisker's Karma and Karma s Sunset – a coup convertible – will use Quantum's Q-Drive PHEV system. It includes a gasoline-powered engine-generator set that is said to produce high efficiency with low emissions. Through the lithium ion battery pack and electric traction motor drive product, the Karma can drive in a 50-mile range on electricity alone. The gas engine is also touted by Fisker for its fuel economy.
About 30 dealers nationwide will carry the Fisker Karma so far. Among them: Shelly Automotive Group in Irvine.
OC METRO reported earlier this week that Fisker Automotive was also listed among the larger clean tech industry venture investments in the second quarter, according to a study conducted by Cleantech Group and Deloitte. Fisker raised $85 million dollars from Eco-Drive Partners and Kleiner Perkins to fund development and manufacturing of the Karma.
