Joe Ames garners Quiet Achiever award, continued ...

Ames is also an important figure in the local business environment: He is the executive director of a national biomedical data-sharing consortium at UC Irvine; he and his wife own Ames & Associates, a communications and public relations firm; he is a member of the Community Impact Council at United Way; and he serves on a number of boards.

Ames served as an editor at the Orange County Register from 1995 to 2005, where he covered local bankruptcy, politics and other  projects. Latino Educational Attainment was formed through one of his last projects at the publication, “Our Children, Our Future.” 

"He has helped so many achieve their dreams for themselves and their children," adds Waltos. "We salute Joe as a true champion of the less fortunate children in our community.”

Ames received the award during OC METRO's Hot 25 celebration.

The Waltos Group of Northwestern Mutual offers services in personal, business and estate solutions, utilizing life, disability and long-term care insurance. The firm also provides investments, wealth management and group employee benefits. The Waltos Group has district offices in Orange, Cerritos and the Inland Empire.
