Orange County business, workforce agencies host forum
The Orange County Business Council (OCBC) and the Orange County Workforce Investment Board, the overseer of Orange County’s workforce development, are hosting the 11th annual Workforce Development Conference today.
The event is being hosted at the Hyatt Regency Irvine from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Centered on the theme of “Education and Workforce Realities in a 21st Century Global Economy,” the conference highlights the changing workforce trends and challenges that for Orange County must overcome.
Bill Habermehl, former Orange County Superintendent, will interview Michael D. Robinson, general manager of U.S. Health and Life Sciences at Microsoft. Other conference discussions will include how businesses can prepare for a new generation and global competition through workforce development programs.
Dr. Wallace Walrod, chief economic advisor to the OCBC, will present the 2012/2013 Workforce Indicators Report at the conference. The report analyzes industry growth and employment, trends in salaries and wages, changes in demographic and the educational attainment of students in Orange County who are preparing for future jobs.
