Kia teams with DC Entertainment on “We Can Be Heroes” campaign
Kia Motors America has partnered with well-known comic book publisher DC Entertainment to combine stylish vehicles with comic book art. The result will be eight custom Justice League-themed vehicles, with publisher Jim Lee providing his talent for each design.
Over the next ten months, Kia will reveal the customized vehicles based on character qualities of the Justice League team. Five Major auto shows and comic book conventions will see the likes of Kia vehicles based off of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.
The customizations will feature some of Kia’s better-known models such as the Optima, Sportage, Soul and Sorento. Bearing the outfit colors of the individual heroes, they will be built by West Coast Customs, RIDES magazine and Import Tuner magazine, among others.
The collaborative effort is a part of the “We Can Be Heroes” campaign, which aims to inspire people to help fight hunger in the Horn of Africa. After the unveiling of the seven individual vehicles, an eighth delineating each member will be auctioned off to provide for the campaign. In addition to the vehicles themselves, Kia will also provide customized license plates, signage, collateral materials and in-vehicle video displays to bring more knowledge to the “We Can Be Heroes” campaign.
“This partnership will allow us to band these two great brands together in an effort to make the world a better place,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing and communications for Kia Motors America. “With Jim Lee’s vision and the efforts of some of the best customizing shops in the business, it’s going to be a lot of fun unveiling these cars around the country.”
