Becker’s Hospital Review honors CEO and CFO of CHOC Children's
Leading healthcare industry publication Becker’s Hospital Review, in its list of “120 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know,” has included CHOC Children’s Hospital President and CEO Kimberly Cripe and Senior Vice President and CFO Kerri Schiller.
The list identifies women who have demonstrated leadership, talent and accomplishment within the healthcare industry. Those recognized on the list have successfully led their organizations in challenging environments during uncertain times and navigated unprecedented changes.
Cripe has been at CHOC Children’s Hospital for 20 years and has been president and CEO for 15 years. During that time, she helped CHOC grow to become a nationally recognized children’s hospital. Cripe has also served as board chair for the California Children’s Hospital Association, on the board for Child Health Corporation of America, and is the vice chair for the Children and Families Commission of Orange County.
The latest honor adds to Cripe’s long list of recognitions for her work in healthcare.
She was honored by the March of Dimes with the Mentor in Medicine Award in 1999 and Women in Business Award in 2000. She was named Director of the Year in 2001 by the Forum for Corporate Directors in Orange County and was recognized as Most Trustworthy Leader and awarded the 2012 Champion of Children award.
Schiller helped CHOC turn a record loss into an operating of $4.9 million in 2000. Through tightened financial controls, better contracts and initiative strategies, revenues increased 215 percent in her first 10 years and market share increased from 56% to 68% in 2008.
Schiller has also served as Secretary/Treasurer as well as on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and on the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions. She is currently on the board for Orange County Foundation for Medial Care and a member of the Hospital Association of Southern California CalOPTIMA Managed Care Subcommittee and Healthcare Financial Management.
The Orange County Business Journal and CalCPA have also honored Schiller as Outstanding CFO of a Non-Profit Organization.
