The Nonprofit Relief Program is designed to relieve the deficit affecting charitable organizations.

The situation facing charities is unique. Community and national nonprofits are losing billions in potential donations at a time when their services and facilities are in greatest demand. Cutbacks in charitable giving stem from the recent economic downturn and proposed changes to the tax code, which would cap tax deductions including donations to charity.

Kim Shepherd, CEO of Decision Toolbox, explained the program. “For every new client referred to Decision Toolbox, 8 percent of the revenue for the first two years from that client will be donated on the referral source’s behalf to the charity of their choice.” Shepherd said the company’s goal was to donate $1 million by 2015.

According to the Philanthropy News Digest, tax code proposals would lower the charitable deduction for high-income families from 35 to 28 percent, reducing contributions to charities and organizations by as much as $7 billion.

Decision Toolbox is already has an active charitable donation program, contributing tens of thousands of dollars each year to a number of groups. The company’s leadership is also involved with several local and nationals organizations including Working Wardrobes, Girls Inc. Orange County, tge American Red Cross, the American Heart Association.
