![]() The 2010 Hurley Pro, which begins Sunday at San Onofre State Beach – Lower Trestles, is the sixth stop on the tour and is known as a turning point in the competition, bringing together 32 of the globe's top surfers who will vie for the world title. Among the competitors: South Africa's Jordy Smith and nine-time world champion Kelly Slater, as well as Rob Machado and Kolohe Andino, among others. New this year is a new 36-man competition format. The seven-day event also will feature live webcasts, and an iPhone and an iPad app, so fans can catch all the action. “Every year, we strive to make the sport of surfing better,” said Hurley Sports Marketing Vice President Pat O’Connell. “The Hurley Pro is the perfect venue to achieve that. From the world’s best surfers to the fans on the beach to the online audience, we’re looking to elevate the experience across the board.
