Despite one of the toughest years in memory, more than 500 homebuilding professionals and executives gathered at the Grove of Anaheim on Saturday night to celebrate the top Southern California sales and marketing performers in the residential development industry.

The annual 2010 SoCal Awards ceremony highlights work in more than 40 categories of new-home marketing and sales, including product design, interior merchandising, logo design, brochures, signage, Internet marketing and actual sales.

"For more than half a century, homebuilding has been an economic powerhouse in this region, and Saturday night was a significant reminder of the talent and creativity that continues to come from this vital industry. It was a remarkable show of innovation in the face of some tough challenges in the marketplace,” said OC METRO Publisher and Churm Media CEO Steve Churm, who served as the event's master of ceremonies.

Among this year's big winners: Irvine-based builder MBK Homes' Greenbrier project in Yorba Linda garnered the Orange County Region Consumers Choice Award. Meanwhile, the Southern California Consumers Choice Award went to the LivingSmart Homes at Tournament Hills in Beaumont, which was developed by multiple honoree Pardee Homes, a Los Angeles-based residential builder.

Other local awardees included OC METRO’s 40 Under 40 honoree Katie McLeish of the Irvine Co.’s Community Development division, who was named Southern California Marketing Director of the Year. Newport Beach-based Hayes Martin Associates captured multiple awards, including the Best Banner Ad Campaign for William Lyon Homes – Get Your Move On and Best Overall Internet Campaign for the Irvine Co. Community Development's Woodbury East project, which has set sales records despite the slow economy.

Several other Orange County-based advertising firms, including the Roxburgh Agency and Kovach Marketing, were winners or finalists for their design and marketing work at the prestigious gathering that historically attracts the industry’s biggest names. Orange County-based homebuilders to walk away with trophies were Brookfield Homes Southland and Lennar Homes.
