Home affordability, continued ...

The report says that the First-Time Buyer Housing Affordability Index fell 3 percentage points compared to the second quarter because of a 10 percent uptick in the price of an entry-level home.

The minimum income needed to buy a home priced at $247,150 in California was $43,500, according to C.A.R.

The most affordable area in the state? The High Desert, where 85 percent of households could purchase a home. The least affordable was San Luis Obispo, with a 47 percent ranking.
