Staff members from the Aliso Viejo Community Association last week joined Professional Community Management’s Orange County regional office to form a team for the annual Aliso Viejo Relay for Life fundraiser event at Grand Park. Local Relay for Life runs and walks are a major fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The staff and members of the Aliso Viejo Community Association (AVCA) will volunteer their time to raise funds to fight cancer in the overnight event last Saturday and Sunday. The event featured ceremonies, a survivor lap, a fight back, and family-friendly entertainment. The two organizations will work with former Association President Ross Chun and Eco-Stride to help raise money to fight cancer and preserve the environment.

“I have participated in the Aliso Viejo Relay For Life for many years, but this year is particularly significant, because this year my family has been touched by this terrible disease,” said Ross Chun, founder and CEO of Eco-Stride, a consulting firm focused on green projects. “This year, we’re walking for my sister-in-law Teresa, and we’re working to keep plastics out of the environment by refilling water bottles for everyone who participates.”

For this year’s event, Eco-Stride created the Eco-Stride Hydration Station, a booth at the event where attendees and participants can fill reusable water bottles. In addition to PCM and AVCA, Eco-Stride LLC partners with The Surfrider Foundation, Transition Aliso Viejo, Savannah’s Organic Ranch, The Laguna Canyon Foundation, Aliso Viejo Patch and Cox Communications.

Donny Disbro, CEO of PCM said, “We’re thrilled to be part of this event that brings people together in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.” PCM has become increasingly supportive and present in Aliso Viejo Community Association events and philanthropy. The company recently participated in a fundraiser for Savannah's Organic Ranch.

"Participating in the Relay for Life is one more way in which they contribute to the community," said current Association President Bill Conley. "PCM's support and willingness to join in this effort speaks highly of their desire to join in and be part of Aliso Viejo's close-knit family."
