"We believe with our proprietary patented fluidizer, we have an excellent chance to reactivate these old wells and turn some of them into profitable active oil and gas wells," says Bill Anderson, president of American Petroleum Solutions. The company's water-based fluidizer is used to clean contaminated soil, sand, tank interiors and equipment, all while recovering oil. An idle well is one that has not produced oil and gas, or has not been used for fluid injection for six consecutive months during the last five years, according to Russell Kidder, CEO of ACT Clean Technologies. An orphan well is a deserted well that has no viable operator or owner. There were nearly 230 orphan wells and 19,546 idle wells recorded by the California Department of Conservation in 2009. ![]() Other Orange County contractors open to well bidding include Anaheim-based Insight Environmental Engineering & Construction, Huntington Beach-based Miller Brooks Environmental Inc. and Lake Forest-based Environmental Solutions Inc.
