Anaheim gets federal funding, continued ...

“This EDA grant will create jobs now, help ease access to the new Kaiser Permanente hospital complex and the PacifiCenter retail center, and will support the city’s goal of creating a viable transit-oriented mixed-use, business and retail district in the Anaheim Canyon Corridor,” says McGowan.

Pringle also recently joined Gov. Schwarzenegger, among other officials, in bidding for more than $4.7 billion in stimulus funding for the statewide high-speed train railway system, which will include a facility at the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center – a multiyear, multiphase project with the OCTA that is expected to be completed in 2013.

Anaheim is the only city in O.C. with two MetroLink stops: The Canyon facility, as well as the Anaheim station at Angel Stadium. The Canyon station is one of the most successful in the system, according to the city, and it is heavily accessed by city business professionals.

City officials will now move forward with the project development stage of the walkway, which will take place over the next few months.
