Apartment sales down in Southern California; up in O.C.

Costa Mesa-based firm Hanley Wood Marketing Intelligence reports subdivision down 26 percent.

According to a survey by Costa Mesa-based association and consulting company Hanley Wood Market Intelligence entitled the New Home Sales and Pricing report, 2,607 new homes and condominiums were sold in housing complexes tracked by the firm.

This number is down from the 3,528 homes sold in developments of 10 or more Hanley Wood reported in June 2008 – a decline of 26 percent.

The California Building Industry Association, using Hanley Wood’s statistics reports that single-family home sales were down 38 percent and sales of townhouses, duplexes and triplexes were down 16 percent. Condominium sales ticked up 9 percent.
