![]() Kathy Griffin shares her thoughts If there were a karaoke machine for Movie Quoters, Steve Martin would be the “Bohemian Rhapsody” of choices. Segerstrom Center for the Arts will host An Evening of Music and Comedy with Steve Martin and The Steep County Rangers on Thursday, Aug. 11. Martin is much more than an acclaimed comedian. He is a four-time Grammy winner, a banjo player, a best-selling author and a songwriter whose latest award came in 2009 for “The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo,” which won Best Bluegrass Album. Two of his other Grammys were for comedy albums, and a third was for a duet with Earl Scruggs. Can’t get enough of the Orange County funny? Well, two-time Emmy winner, New York Times best-selling author, Grammy nominee and Broadway darling Kathy Griffin returns to Segerstrom Center for two performances on Saturday, Aug. 27. Griffin delivers scathing celebrity gossip and is the source of the nervous smiles by A-listers seeing her act. They may be looking over their shoulders for the next carefully aimed barb, but you can just sit back and enjoy. Don’t wait to buy tickets, since Steve Martin and The Steep County Rangers sold out in 2009. ≈ ≈ ≈ • OTHER HAPPENINGS RITA RUDNER Laguna Playhouse Aug. 26-29 Rita Rudner returns to the Laguna Playhouse for a four-day stand-up engagement.
