Gary J. Highland

Highland Law Corporation

Gary J. Highland, one of the top O.C. attorneys named by OC METRO and Avvo, is the senior attorney at Highland Law Corp., a Newport Beach-based firm that focuses exclusively on commercial real estate and business loan transactions.

In today’s economic environment, representation of both lenders and borrowers in commercial real estate loan modifications is a growing specialization for the firm. Through representing many of the largest and most prestigious lending institutions in the U.S., Highland and senior associate Jodi Frankel have extensive experience when it comes to representing lenders and borrowers.

“We are at the beginning of a huge boom in commercial loan modifications,” says Highland. “When properly structured, loan modification can be a win-win solution for the lender and borrower: the lender turns a non-performing loan into a performing asset, and the borrower avoids foreclosure and is able to hold onto property through the economic downturn.”

Highland Law Corp. works closely with RoboDocs, an Internet-based loan documentation service, to prepare documents and provide related legal services for commercial real estate and business loans. Founded by Highland in 1997, RoboDocs remains the only document preparation service to specialize exclusively in commercial and multifamily loan documentation.

Widely recognized for pioneering automation in his practice, Highland has been featured in numerous articles on computerized document systems and law office technology. He developed several computer applications to automate the preparation of customized commercial loan documents; in fact, he created much of the document automation software used by RoboDocs today.

Highland received his undergraduate degree from the UC Irvine, and earned his law degree from the USC Law Center. At USC, he served as notes editor for the Southern California Law Review.

Highland is a member of the State Bar of California, American Mensa and The Pacific Club (where he serves on the wine committee). He lives in Newport Beach, with his family, including two school-age daughters.
