National real estate website to host auction for tiny homes with big hearts
Auction.com provides online platform for Project Playhouse charity auction

Irvine-based Auction.com, the nation’s leading online real estate marketplace, will provide its online platform to Project Playhouse, a charity auction that assists HomeAid Orange County with efforts to assist local homeless.
HomeAid Orange County will auction four luxury playhouses during its annual event, Project Playhouse Doorways for Hope Gala, at the Balboa Bay Club on Oct. 5. Auction.com will host online bidding for the playhouses during the event. Proceeds will be donated to HomeAid Orange County.
“The Auction.com process and platform have sold many multi-million-dollar homes in 2012. We have seen tremendous interest in our online real estate marketplace from luxury buyers,” said Jennifer Leuer, senior vice president of the Auction.com luxury homes division. “We’re thrilled that our platform can support the great work of such an important organization and a truly delightful event.”
Auction.com allows people from around the world to bid, enhancing HomeAid Orange County’s ability to raise more funds for local programs.
“Auction.com’s success selling luxury homes and reaching bidders around the world helps us overcome [the challenge of] getting bidders to the live auction,” said Gina Scott director of development for HomeAid Orange County. “Not only will this bring more excitement and a larger pool of bidders to the event, it further raises awareness of the issue of homelessness, particularly in Orange County.”
Since it launched 20 years ago, Project Playhouse has raised $6.3 million and helped HomeAid Orange County complete 49 housing developments.
