Aviir Diagnostics holds celebrity auction for Heart Disease awareness
The biotechnology firm sponsored the Purses from the Heart fundraiser.

Irvine-based Aviir Diagnostic Laboratories, a biotechnology company focused on prevention of cardiovascular disease, sponsored a celebrity auction event called Purses from the Heart at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles on May 24.
The event featured an auction of donated new and used designer handbags benefiting Guard a Heart, a nonprofit heart disease awareness foundation. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"Through our support of this event, our plan is to help individuals take precautionary measures to prevent a cardiac event. We are delighted so many celebrities such as Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr have donated bags of their own in an effort to raise awareness of heart disease, the leading cause of death in our country,” said Douglas Harrington, CEO of Aviir Diagnostic Laboratories.
Aviir focuses on developing diagnostic tests that can assist in identifying high-risk patients.
