A 25-year span of C-level managerial experience in marketing, sales and operations, concentrated in high growth, start-up and turnaround companies, was certainly a solid foundation for Cassie Hoag to become Founder and Managing Director of Equity Architects, LLC, headquartered in San Juan Capistrano. This “new breed” advisory firm helps clients prepare for and navigate the largely unknown territory of strategic financings, mergers and acquisitions. Throughout their careers, the Equity Architects team members have collectively engineered more than 200 technology, product and company acquisitions, raised more than $500 million in corporate financings, and served nearly 1,000 clients.
Through proprietary and cost-effective methods, Equity Architects writes business and product launch plans, along with small business evaluation models that combine state-of-the-art ROI analysis with the art and science of strategic planning. These tools help attract investors, raise money and/or find M&A partners. Adept at the financial, marketing and operating sides of strategic transactions, Equity Architects is particularly successful in finding synergistic buyers and sellers, securing credit lines, debt/equity financing, and/or strategic partnerships for new start-ups, as well as angel or venture investors for high-potential enterprises.
Leading up to launching her own business, Ms. Hoag was a senior executive at both Fortune 50 and start-up companies – including Chief Operating Officer at Imagyn Medical Technologies – a manufacturer and marketer of medical devices for the oncology and critical care markets. At Imagyn, Ms. Hoag managed five company technology acquisitions. Her experience in writing prospectuses, as well as leading M&A negotiations and company integrations, was tantamount in her decision to launch her own business in this arena. She realized there was a need to serve startup and early-stage companies that are ignored by traditional investment bankers, but often deserving of angel, venture capital or debt financing.
Ms. Hoag’s path of success started in the retail clothing and home furnishings stores of Strawbridge & Clothier (now owned by Federated Department Stores). She then worked at Avon Beauty Products, Inc. as a marketing and distribution manager. From there, she was promoted to become the first female and youngest Vice President at Avon’s subsidiary Foster Medical, managing the company’s Central Operations, comprised of 400+ employees.
Mr. Hoag’s desire to help others extends to her volunteer work and philanthropic giving to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization, the American Cancer Society and St. Anne School in Laguna Niguel. She is on the Board of Directors and President-Elect for NAWBO-OC, is a Director of FIRST Professional Resources, Inc., Sunwest Bank, Inc. and several other private company Boards.
Ms. Hoag and her husband, Richard, reside in San Juan Capistrano with their two children ages 14 and 18.
