  • A full-service florist and boutique, Devynn’s Garden opened up shop 14 years ago in what had been an old house with tons of character on a well-traveled stretch of Pacific Coast Highway in Sunset Beach. Every arrangement is custom tailored and designed to suit any taste – from modern and minimal to lush and romantic. How does co-owner Cyndi Romero Turk do it? “Our staffers are all out-of-the-box thinkers and exceptional listeners,” says Turk, who’s in business with her husband, David. “Our clientele base consists of prestigious hotels, restaurants, corporate and professional offices, and A-list celebrities.” Scroll down for a Q&A with Cyndi.

    Age:
    38

    Favorite plant: Camellia plant

    Favorite flower: Lady slipper

    Favorite color: Orange

Something most people don’t know about you: I never went to school for floral design.

Motto or favorite words to live by: “True contentment is not in having everything, but in being satisfied with everything you have.”

Story behind the name of your business: Devynn is our 15-year-old daughter and one
of the things I’m most proud of in my life.

Most important business tool: A sharp knife and ME

First thing you do when you get to the shop: Turn on the music

Last thing you do when you leave the shop: Turn off any burning candles – I’m paranoid that they’re going to burn down my business.

What you love most about your work: I see my clients through the best of times (weddings, baby showers, births) and through the worst of times (deaths), and through it all, they call me to help them honor these times.

What you’d be doing if you weren’t in your current profession: I would most definitely be a photographer. I love what the camera captures – that one moment in time – forever.
