Agora Churrascaria is a Brazilian steak house that embraces the Rodizio style. Servers dressed as gauchos (local ranchers from the South) move from table to table with skewers of meat. Sixteen cuts of beef, pork, lamb and chicken, all cooked over a custom-designed wood-charcoal grill, are served. And the restaurant also features a hot-and-cold salad bar stocked with leafy greens, vegetables and seafood specialties. Scroll down for a Q&A with Scott.
Age and marital status: I am 34 and a newlywed (married at the Orange County Performing Arts Center).
Business tool you can’t live without: I am religious about my “To Do” list. There are so many little things I need to take care of. It is always packed.
Most productive time of day and why: Definitely during my long morning shower – that’s when I organize my day and get lots of creative ideas.
Least productive time of day: Lunch rush – my head is split between the work I have been doing in the back of the house and the front of the house, where the customers are starting to arrive.
Proudest personal achievement: Solving Rubik’s Cube.
Your role model: My mother – she is a successful businesswoman, and she always has great advice for me.
Age when you realized you wanted to become a restaurateur: Family lore says I started saying I wanted to have a restaurant when I was 10.
Secret vice: I play video games.
Favorite home-cooked meal: I am easy – pasta marinara with garlic bread.
First song on your iPod: Songs from my all-time favorite Broadway musicals – “Phantom of the Opera” and “Rent.”
Last concert you attended: “Star Wars” in concert at Honda Center – it was very cool for about the first half hour.
Favorite place in the world: It would have to be Alaska in summertime, because I don’t do well with cold weather. I was really inspired by the raw nature.
What you’d be doing if you weren’t in your current field: Everyone says I should be in sales. I can sell anything to anybody. I am a great persuader.
