Skateboarder's CFO faces embezzlement charges
Matthew Mercuro was charged with fraudulent transfer of $365,000 from Ryan Sheckler’s business accounts.

The office of the Orange County District Attorney announced Friday that the CFO for professional teenage skateboarder Ryan Sheckler’s businesses was arrested and charged with embezzling more than $365,000 from the victim by fraudulently transferring funds to himself from two corporate accounts. Sheckler is the star of the MTV series, "Life of Ryan."
Matthew Mercuro, 36, of San Clemente, is charged with two felony counts of grand theft with sentencing enhancements for excessive taking over $200,000 and $65,000. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six years and eight months in state prison.
Mercuro is being held on $400,000 bail and he must prove any bond money is from a legal and legitimate source before being allowed to post bail. The defendant is expected to be arraigned Tuesday at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
