“Katie Nguyen’s optimism-infused determination and persistence will most assuredly bring her success, yet it will also help others of her generation realize the benefits of hard work and a positive outlook,” says Bob Waltos, managing partner of The Waltos Group in Newport Beach.
In 2007, The Waltos Group of Northwestern Mutual and Northwestern Mutual Foundation pledged $25,000 to establish the Diversity Scholarship at the university. Through the funds, two $2,500 grants are awarded each year for a period of five years to exemplary students who are earning an undergraduate degree in the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics.
A committee of local business and community leaders, The Waltos Group financial representatives and Cal State Fullerton choose the scholarship recipient each semester.
The Waltos Group in Newport Beach is a part of Northwestern Mutual. It offers more than 200 financial representatives and specialists in areas such as personal, business and estate solutions and wealth management.
