During the application and selection process, judges from the university will identify 15 finalists, who will each receive a $15,000 award. In June, the winner of the program will be identified and receive an additional $47,500, totaling the full scholarship amount of $62,500. “We’re thrilled to continue the Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship Program into its third year,” said Jon Kaplan, assistant dean, MBA Programs, Argyros School of Business and Economics. “The program is a way for Chapman to not only partner with, but also help build up, the Orange County business community. The vast majority of Chapman MBA graduates work in Orange County businesses.” In 2010, Christopher Lorenzana received a $57,500 scholarship to attend the Flex MBA program at Chapman. As part of his application, he wrote an essay detailing the importance of small businesses –– which make up more than 95 percent of companies in the nation –– and their contributions to our economy. At the time, Lorenzana served as regional communications director for the U.S. Small Business Administration. Last year’s winner, Elise Drakes, received $60,000 to fund her MBA program at Chapman. A project coordinator at TAYLOR & Associates Architects of Newport Beach, Drakes wrote about her experience in the healthcare architecture industry.
