Chapman University receives $25 million gift, continued ...

The hall will be used for university performances and productions, including concerts, recitals and operas. It will also be home to Chapman's American Celebration gala, an annual Broadway-style revue that nets more than $2 million a year. Other professional touring shows may also take the stage at the center.

Pfeiffer Partners has been selected as the design architect for the project. The firm has worked with many other performing arts centers, including the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in Anchorage and the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Ga.

Though Chapman has not set a specific site yet for the performing arts center, the school has a few possibilities on the main campus in Orange or in the west campus area, where the university's film school is located.

Chapman University plans to work closely with the city of Orange at every step in the planning process, and it will partner with the city for various events in the hall.
