Seal Beach's Clean Energy will build fueling station at Ontario Airport
Firm will design, maintain compressed natural gas plant.

Seal Beach-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. is set to develop a new compressed natural gas fueling station at Ontario International Airport.
The city of L.A. awarded a 10-year contract to the firm to design, build and maintain the public-access facility, which will serve the airport's expanding fleets of CNG-fueled airport shuttle buses, taxicabs and vans.
More than 800,000 gallons of CNG fuel are expected to be needed each year at the new station, which will be available round the clock to CNG-fueled vehicles. Airport officials expect to convert the entire fleet of shuttle buses to CNG fuel by 2011. The airport also requires that all permitted taxi operators convert their cabs to alternative fuel within the next two years.
“We are committed to helping reduce our carbon footprint, in support of the city of Los Angeles GREEN L.A. Action Plan, which focuses on fighting global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions," says airport Manager Jess Romo. "We believe that the planned transition of airport vehicles to clean-burning natural gas power will contribute significantly to the success of this effort.”
The contract further expands the company's partnership with Los Angeles World Airports – Clean Energy has been supplying CNG and liquefied natural gas to Los Angeles International Airport's fleet for more than 10 years. LAX is owned by LAWA.
