Newport Beach's Conexant unveils video surveillance product

The encoder is designed to be more efficient for use in security applications.

Conexant Systems, headquartered in Newport Beach, recently unveiled its newest video encoder, the CX93510. The new product is designed to be more efficient for use in security applications – like motion and infrared detectors – and also in items such as intercoms.

The highly integrated encoder allows manufacturers to cost-effectively integrate video verification into a wide range of video surveillance products, according to René Hartner, vice president of marketing for Conexant.

“Motion-triggered security alarms with visual verification capabilities dramatically reduce the incident of false alarms,” she says, “which is driving demand for these products in residential and business applications.”

To maximize battery life, the CX93510 operates at only 12 milliamperes (mA) in full power and 10 nanoamps (nA) in sleep mode, which appeals to alarm companies that work to offer systems that operate between two and five years before a new battery is required.
