Headquarters: Santa Ana
Goodwill of Orange County is seen as an organization whose actions reflect its values. The nonprofit agency, headquartered in Santa Ana, helps people with disabilities find employment, become independent and support themselves and their families.
“While we recognize the success that we have experienced to date, we practice continuous improvement in pursuit of our mission,” says Frank Talarico Jr., Goodwill of Orange County president and CEO. “We are committed to living out our values for the long term, each day at a time.”
The organization, which opened in 1924 as a storefront on Fourth Street in Santa Ana, has more than 40 stores and donation centers in Orange County. Each day, these centers help to fund programs for more than 10,000 children and adults with disabilities and other barriers to independence.
A leading employer in the county, Goodwill of Orange County provides jobs to more than 900 individuals and has an annual budget that exceeds $78 million. For every dollar spent, 91 cents goes directly to services that support people in need.
The organization has earned eight four-star ratings since 2001 from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This top rating, given to organizations that exceed industry standards, is based on two criteria: transparency, and financial health and accountability.
