Jason Lucash started OrigAudio after winning the top prize on ABC’s business investment TV show “Shark Tank.” Within three months, TIME Magazine named the company’s signature foldable, recycled speakers on its list of 50 Best Inventions of the Year. The cubical speakers use the Japanese art of origami to fold flat enough to fit into a laptop sleeve.
Since its launch in 2009, OrigAudio has sold nearly 1 million of the Fold n’ Play speakers and has since expanded to design other audio gear.
“I love having an idea for a product and then going out and figuring out how to turn that idea into a reality,” says Lucash.
The origami speakers are sold in 5,000 U.S. stores; Lucash hopes to triple that number by the end of 2013. origaudio.com
