Kelly Lewis’ father used to quote David Allen to her, saying, “You can do anything, but not everything.” From the outside, though, it seems she may have proved him wrong: Lewis juggles her responsibilities as a stay-at-home mother of three young children and founder of two businesses she runs from her home.
Lewis put her MBA to use by starting Team Sparkle, an idea she and two friends thought up while training for the Surf City Marathon. The company sells sparkly skirts designed for running – which Lewis originally stitched so that family could spot her along the marathon route – as well as leg warmers and other running gear.
Lewis first felt a measure of success when she spotted a stranger in a Team Sparkle skirt, and when she overheard another stranger talking about her company at a local park. She hopes that her other business, Just Spotted, a lifestyle and activities guide to Orange County, will become the go-to guide for local family fun.
Besides running and exploring the area, Lewis enjoys quilting, training for triathlons, snowboarding and traveling. team-sparkle.com, just-spotted.com
