Carla Vargas’ dedication to service and her vision for change in her community has fueled her success in her 10-year career with United Way, where she works with donors to direct tens of millions of dollars in investments to Orange County charities. During a recent community impact project, she helped select more than 90 local health, education, and income-related nonprofits for United Way for collaboration.
Vargas has launched the Women’s Philanthropy Fund, which hosted its first Women’s Leadership Summit last year, and has coordinated million-dollar donations to the organization. Soon, Vargas will help United Way launch a community engagement plan that will outline action targets and determine what conditions the organization will seek to change. Besides promoting community service and human rights, Vargas enjoys reading short stories and spending time with her family and her Boston terrier. unitedwayoc.org
