Patrick Rue’s hobby of homebrewing, which he adopted while attending law school, turned into a career when he graduated and decided to pursue this craft on a professional basis. Today, Rue still enjoys coming up with innovative recipes and distributes his award-winning concoctions in 20 U.S. states, Europe and Australia.
The Bruery has been an influential force in the emerging craft beer revolution, especially in Orange County. Its brewers continually produce new beers that elevate craft beer to a new standard. Set in an industrial warehouse in Placentia, the Belgian and experimental brewery’s tasting room, along with its craft beers, are highly ranked on BeerAdvocate, a top website for beer lovers.
Rue says his greatest passion is in “contributing to the cultural change where the perception of craft beer is on a level playing field with fine wine,” and hopes to build a new, elegant brewery in the future.
Rue and The Bruery have found a way to use its beer for a good cause: A beer tasting for charity last April raised $15,000 for the Free Wheelchair Mission and the Boys & Girls Club of America. thebruery.com
