When Inna Kassatkina came to the U.S. from Moscow at 18, she intended to stay for one year to learn English. Twenty years later she’s still in O.C., where she has earned a linguistics degree at UC Irvine and the top spot at the translation company she founded in 1994, Global Language Solutions.
Now a top executive whose company grosses more than $10 million in annual sales, Kassatkina has come a long way from her humble beginnings in Laguna Beach, where she spent four months working for a meager $450 at a Russian art gallery.
Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, universities, nonprofits and government agencies all rely on her company’s translation services. Global Language Solutions has opened offices in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Budapest, Hungary, and Kassatkina hopes to expand her business to reach even more countries. globallanguages.com
Best business advice: “The biggest challenge in business is learning how to motivate employees and manage people with different personalities. That advice didn’t ring true to me when we were a smaller company. Now, at almost 40 employees, I would agree with it 100 percent.”
