After leaving their prolific careers and six-figure jobs to dedicate their lives to making a difference, Dale Partridge (right) and Aaron Chavez founded their socially conscious firm, Sevenly, in March 2011. The philanthropic entrepreneurs confronted their own lack of activism and the need for social change, and dreamed of motivating people to care about the plight of those less fortunate.
Convinced that people would take action if given the means, Partridge and Chavez established Sevenly to address seven causes: hunger, water, slavery, aid, disaster, medical and poverty.
Their company donates $7 from every fair trade T-shirt purchase to its charity partner of the week; it raised $175,000 in its first six months of operation. Every week, Sevenly partners with a different charity, creating a special T-shirt that represents their cause. Eighty-five percent of its sales are driven from social media, which Sevenly credits with its success.
Partridge refers to his passion for his business as a calling, and he aims to raise more than $1 million this year. He says his biggest accomplishment is, “Leading a generation toward generosity. By creating a business model that helps people to give, we have seen thousands of individuals transform into a people of genuine love for others.” sevenly.org
