Sandra Jones

From the second she wakes up, Sandra Jones dreams up new ways to improve the student experience at UC Irvine. She closely collaborates with students to make great ideas a reality. In 2010 a freshman came to her with the idea of setting the world record for the largest dodge ball game. The resulting event included 1,742 people and has become an annual world-record endeavor.
Jones’ greatest passion is making sure college students are equipped with all of the tools necessary to be effective community leaders. She started a program called The Dream Grant to give student leaders seed money for innovative social change projects. Working closely with the students inspired Jones, as well.
“I was so overwhelmed by their generosity and sincerity, I broke down crying during one of the lunch sessions,” she says.
Her next project involves working with colleges and universities across the nation to address wellness issues in college, helping avoid public health issues down the road by encouraging students to develop healthier habits. asuci.uci.edu
