Top executive: Gerhard Forstner, CEO
M2 Renewables wants to revolutionize the way wastewater is treated, by thinking of it not just as raw sewage but as a potential source of clean water and energy. The Lake Forest-based company helps water-treatment plants create reusable water using a fraction of the energy required in more conventional treatments. M2 Renewables also has developed a unique technology that converts solid wastes from raw sewage into energy that can power a water-treatment plant, helping those plants to become completely energy independent.
“Wastewater provides a rich stream of resources in that it is infinitely renewable but easily recoverable,” says Gerhard Forstner, CEO.
