![]() As part of Yokohama’s commitment to creating a sustainable society and reducing the environmental impact of its products, this Japanese tire company launched the Forever Forest Project, aimed at planting 500,000 trees around its factories to combat global warming. In December, 150 Yokohama employees planted more than 500 tree seedlings around its production facility in Fullerton. Yokohama has pioneered the development of a new eco-conscious tire that combines orange oil – a renewable resource extracted from orange peels – with natural rubber. It has also developed performance tires that vastly reduce rolling resistance, allowing users to boost fuel efficiency and thereby reduce carbon-dioxide emissions. “Being selected among the top green companies in Orange County is truly gratifying for Yokohama,” says Dan King, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Yokohama Tire Corp. “We make environmental preservation a way of life for us, and we are proud to have received this honor from our community.” ![]() OC METRO'S 2012 GREEN TEAM
