Employees at Johnny Rockets’ Restaurant Support Center in Lake Forest sometimes get to rub elbows with the rich and famous at the company’s gift lounges at shows like the American Music Awards, Oscars and MTV Music Awards. But the company also rolls out the red carpet for its own employees, giving them and three guests a year’s worth of free meals at any of its 286 restaurants.
With fewer than 50 people at its corporate office, the company offers a fun, friendly atmosphere without a big bureaucracy, says Executive Director for Human Resources Terri Pattillo. Beyond competitive salaries and benefits, that means casual attire, catered lunches and potluck celebrations. Recently, the company even invited employees to hang up their own baby pictures to see who could identify the most coworkers.
“We try to get people to know each other,” says Pattillo. “There’s really a sense of camaraderie. It’s a nice, friendly atmosphere, but we’re still getting work done.” ocm
