MOLLY DARNIEDER-BRACKEN

POSITION: Director of operations at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Helped lead the St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach, to award-winning status

WHAT YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK: Hospitality is very dynamic. Every day is different and presents a new challenge. You always have to be ahead of the curve, and I enjoy the opportunity associated with constant change.

PROFESSIONAL PHILOSOPHY: I have always believed that people can achieve anything they want to through true hard work, dedication and effort. There has been nothing that I’ve decided to do that I haven’t been able to accomplish through those three things.

PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT, AND WHY IT STANDS OUT: I am very proud to have been part of the team that achieved the Mobil Five-Star Award and regained the AAA Five Diamond Award at the St. Regis in Dana Point. It was a true team effort throughout the resort, which made it even more rewarding than anything I’ve done as an individual.

ADVICE FOR WOMEN ENTERING THE WORK FORCE: Try to find work that you truly enjoy, and bring a positive attitude to work every day. Put your head down, focus on what you can control, ask questions of those who are more knowledgeable than you are, and ensure that you learn and grow every day.

FIRST ALBUM YOU EVER BOUGHT: I honestly don’t remember what my first purchased album was, but my first live concert was Stevie Wonder in Syracuse, N.Y., in 1987.
