Who or what inspires you:
This job – when I’m dealing with families to place in extended care, I
make a difference in each person’s life. This has a far-reaching,
lasting effect, even on their overall health.
Advice to other women in business: Never
underestimate how you can make a difference. You can make a difference
even in a small way. For it to be the change that you want to see, ask
yourself, “How can I get this done?”
Favorite book: The Bible

When we’re young, we believe our loved ones will live forever in
perfect health. Youth affords us the benefit of not yet knowing that
out of 35 million senior citizens in the United States, 52 percent have
a disability.
Heather Williams took ownership of About
Senior Living in February of last year and, with that, extended a much
welcome hand to people who must make the heartbreaking decision
concerning senior housing and in-home care.
“I feel a
large sense of responsibility,” Williams says. “I want to have a
positive impact on other people and open the door to inspire.”
Williams is in the process of expanding her company nationwide and is aiming toward opening an assisted living center.
“I
am not satisfied with displacement,” she says fervently. “I come across
destitute, homeless seniors – I’ve never understood this.”
Williams
apologizes for being on a soapbox, but in the eyes and hearts of
seniors and their families, she can stay right where she is.
