« When Kimberlee Mitchell’s daughter Chloe was at the age where she was moving around and getting into everything, she knew it was time to baby proof her home. When a representative from a childproofing company spoke to her Mommy and Me group, she found the information useful, but something was missing.

“His approach could’ve been different,” Mitchell says. “Mothers of newborns are wide-eyed and hungry for more information, and he missed it. Here was an opportunity for him to teach and educate, and I thought, ‘Why didn’t he?’”

Boo Boo Busters was founded with the idea that moms need education and advice about childproofing their homes – not be conked over the head with gloom-and-doom information. Mitchell started the corporation seven years ago and recently rebranded it as Safety 1st Squad, helping the nationwide corporation to launch offices in Connecticut, New York City and New Jersey, while owning units in Los Angeles and Orange County. Boo Boo Busters led her to baby proof more than 3,000 homes in Southern California, including the homes of Tom Cruise, Matt Damon and Britney Spears. But, in the end, Mitchell is happiest being a mom.

“I fell in love with my daughter,” she says. “The identity of being a mother trumps everything.”
