As president of ChopShop, an Irvine-based film production and editing company, Zach Lyons has become the go-to guy for youth marketing and advertising. Since the company began in 2003, Lyons has catered to such high-profile clients as FUEL TV, Red Bull and Boost Mobile.
Most important lesson learned: Embrace change. It’s better to jump than to be pushed.
Next big step: ChopShop has just added Web design to our service offering, which is very exciting for us. We have produced online media content for some time now, but by designing the site and producing the content, we can take the creative to a much higher level, providing a more integrated, cohesive and effective solution for our clients.
Advice for other young professionals: Never blame others for your mistakes. When you do that, you give up power and control.
What you do for fun: Pretty much anything on a board, a little golf and a lot of travel.
If you could have dinner with anyone – alive or dead – who would it be and why? Lunch with Benjamin Franklin, dinner with Stanley Kubrick and drinks with Andy Warhol – that would be one unforgettable day.
