Andrew Abraham is a cancer survivor who created the world’s first organic meal-replacement shake – from his kitchen in Irvine. And just two years later, his Orgain shakes are used by pro athletes and top cancer centers, and are sold in more than 2,000 stores, including Mother’s Market and every Whole Foods in the nation.
Abraham says that when he was being treated for muscle cancer, he became aware that the meal-replacement shakes often used by cancer patients were loaded with not-so-healthy corn syrup, sugar and artificial colors. Years later, after completing medical school and an MBA, Abraham got to work in his kitchen, mixing and remixing organic shakes that met his nutritional standards and still tasted good.
