Not many under-40 executives can say they founded a 15-year-old company, but John Carley can. He was 19 years old when he founded Newport Beach-based Trinet Internet Solutions.
The company has grown to become Orange County’s largest and longest-running Web firm, with more than 60 employees. When Carley started the company, the Internet was in an early stage, and he found himself too far ahead of the Web technology of the time. In 1996, he met with the CEO of a popular movie theater chain and recommended that they post their movie times and theater locations online. “They told me only computer companies need Web sites,” Carley says.
