Nikan Khatibi believes he was put on this earth to help people. “At the end of the day, we all know our calling in life,” he says. “We all know what we are capable of doing in this lifetime.”
Except Khatibi’s got two callings – one is to serve in politics; the other is to practice medicine.
Khatibi’s already given politics a try. He ran for the mayor’s seat in Laguna Niguel when he was 19 years old. He didn’t win, but that hasn’t dulled his ambition.
“What drove me to run for mayor at the time is the same thing that would drive me today to run for Congress or the Senate,” he says. “I can make the lives of those people I represent better and stronger.”
