Joseph Volz started at Merrill Lynch with an entry-level position – as an intern who had just graduated from UC Irvine with a math degree. Today, he runs its Costa Mesa office, overseeing his own thriving wealth management practice and managing 22 financial advisors there.
“Every day you come to work, the market is different,” he says. “It’s not boring. What drives me now is seeing people’s goals come to fruition, getting to take a client to dinner after their retirement – and know you helped get them there.”
Volz is also a founding member of the Center for Investment and Wealth Management at UCI’s Merage School of Business. He helps raise money and plan high-profile events for the center, a resource for innovative programs in the field of investment and wealth management.
