STEVE ECONOMOSSenior vice president of NAI Capital Despite his crazy schedule raising four kids, running marathons, participating in triathlons and climbing Mt. Whitney (which he’s done five times), Steve Economos has become Orange County’s No. 1 seller of office buildings – No. 4 in all of Southern California. On top of these commitments, Economos is NAI Global’s investment council chairman and has earned CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) and SIOR (Society of Industrial And Office Realtors) designations for his performance, educational and ethical standards. Most important lesson learned: Until this cycle, I thought leverage was a good thing. Now I’m not so sure. Next big step: A consistent stream of medium steps – I’m always growing, learning and challenging myself. Advice for other young professionals: Find a niche and become a specialist, then grow from there. What you do for fun: Mountain bike, ski and go to the beach with the family. When not at work, I’m usually outside. If you could have dinner with anyone – alive or dead – who would it be and why? Theodore Roosevelt. He did more by the age of 40 (and became the youngest president at 42) than most do in a lifetime.
