When Joshua Hong founded his company in 2001, he had a specific vision – to create a place for serious computer gamers where they could download and play games for free. Hong’s vision of this Free2Play model has paid off in spades for his growing company, GamersFirst.
When it was launched, GamersFirst was the first American publisher of massive multiplayer online games. Today, GamersFirst has 134 employees and 23 million registered players across America, Europe and India. While these players have free access to games, GamersFirst makes its money from the sale of virtual goods, such as in-game currencies, weapons and ammunition that people buy to enhance their playing experience.
