AUTUMN STRIER
Executive director of Miracles for Kids
Since Autumn Strier assumed the lead role at Miracles for Kids in 2005, the nonprofit’s revenue has increased by almost 800 percent, from $76,000 to $600,000 last year. And under her leadership, the organization – which aims to improve the lives of children facing cancer and other life-threatening illnesses – developed a grant program at CHOC Children’s Hospital and the Basket of Miracles Program to assist families in medical crises.

What you do for fun:
I love to spend time with my husband and our three children. Whether it is catching tadpoles at O’Neill Regional Park or simply playing in the back yard, the time we spend together is always filled with laughter. Seeing the world through their eyes and being a part of their lives is the most fun I have ever had.
If you could have dinner with anyone – alive or dead – who would it be and why?
Over the years, I have turned to words of Maya Angelou when I am looking to find inspiration. Her wisdom and candor, and the beauty she finds in the uniqueness of our world, are inspiring to me. I would love to spend an evening with such an incredible person who has gained so much from her life.
