DesiYou is the first digital distribution and marketing agency specializing in the global Indian entertainment market based right here in Orange County. Ash Kumra launched the company in 2007, after seeing a rise in Indian Entertainment exemplified by Bollywood, “Slumdog Millionaire” and various television shows.
The company now reaches more than 50,000 websites and millions of viewers, via mobile handsets, in India, North America and Arab countries. DesiYou, which is now looking to create the first global video network specializing in Indian entertainment, was named the 2010 Best Digital Media company by the Irvine Entrepreneur Forum. Kumra also was named Best Young South Asian American Entrepreneur by the South Asian Business Alliance Network. He frequently speaks before groups such as USC’s Entrepreneurship Program, The Indus Entrepreneurs and UCI’s Paul Merage School. In his spare time, Kumra is a business coach, and his Facebook fan page at facebook.com/ashkumra offers daily business advice.
